A command launcher that grows with you

Tech2Apple editorial · Source-based guide · Updated October 2026

Raycast combines an application launcher with commands and extensions. The interesting question is not how many extensions you can install, but which repeated action you can make simpler.

Start with one task

Try opening your most-used apps through the launcher. Choose a shortcut that does not conflict with an existing system shortcut. Use that for a few days before changing the rest of your workflow.

Add one extension

Browse the official extension store for a task you already do: working with your editor, finding something in a service, or setting a timer. Check the extension’s author, permissions, requirements, and source when available.

Check the tradeoffs

Some tools need third-party accounts or access to your files. Paid and AI features can have different requirements from the core launcher. Check current plan details with the developer instead of assuming every feature is included.

This is an introduction based on developer documentation, not a hands-on performance review or a popularity ranking.
